Land-for-Peace-Season

It is Land-for-Peace season again. The European Union and the US are pressuring Israel to relinquish land for peace. At the same time when John Kerry is busy with his shuttle diplomacy, the US government showed its true colours by deciding that Jerusalem is not in Israel – I refer to the court ruling in the US not to list Israel as the place of birth on US passports for citizens born in Jerusalem.

This far-reaching ruling is a direct result of the lack of courage of consecutive US State President’s to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by not moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

Almost at the same time, the EU decided that grants and funding could not be awarded to Israeli entities, including non-profit’s and educational institutions, located beyond the pre-1967 lines, meaning Judea and Samaria, the Biblical heartland of Israel.

These actions would have been beyond understanding if not for the clarifying truth of the Bible. The Gentile nations – of whom many are Christian nations – are bringing the wrath of God on themselves, either through ignorance or by following a skewed and false narrative.

The prophet Zechariah said the following:

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” – Zechariah 12:3

The punishments for the nations who interfere with the affairs of Jerusalem are vividly described by the prophet Zechariah:

It will come about that all of the survivors of the nations who came against Jerusalem will come there year to year to worship the King, the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, and to observe the Feast of Tents (Tabernacles).

If anyone from the families of the earth will not come to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, there will be no rain for them.” – Zechariah 14:16&17. In other words, they will not survive.

It will be good for the nations to take note of the Biblical narrative regarding Israel’s future and not to follow human designed narratives.

It is appropriate to end this article with the words written in the Book of the prophet Joel:

“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land” – Joel 3:2.

“Let the nations be awakened and come to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; because I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations” – Joel 3:12.

The literal meaning of Valley of Jehoshaphat is Valley of Decision. Therefore, the nations can devise their little plans and schemes, but God will make the final decision.
