The Calling for Jews to Go Home gets Louder

Rising anti-Semitism, worldwide condemnation of Israel and direct attacks and killing of Jews has reached such proportions that it can no longer be ignored. What are the reasons for this sudden upsurge in Jew hatred or is there a coded message in these events? Are we now in the time Jeremiah described in Jeremiah 16:16? “But now I will send for many fishermen declares the Lord, and they will catch them. “After that I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and crevices of the rocks.”

For many years various organisations have been involved with the process of helping Jews to made aliyah, mostly from Russian countries. For years ships departed from Odessa in Ukraine, which is suddenly again under Russian control since the beginning of April 2014. If we look at the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, how long will these ships be allowed to sail from Odessa to Israel? After the successful takeover of Crimea, Vladimir Putin’s focus shifted to Eastern Ukraine. In a television interview this past week, Putin referred to Eastern Ukraine as “Noworossia”, which means New Russia.

On Passover Eve, armed men in Donetsk handed out notices ordering all Jews over 16 years of age to register as Jews or face deportation. It further orders Jews to pay a registration fee of $50 before May 3 and list all real estate and vehicles owned.

The incident happened as around 20 Jews were leaving the synagogue last week. The three hooded men handing out the pamphlets were carrying a Russian flag and the symbol of the separatist Republic of Donetsk.

The unrest in Ukraine has brought with it a rise in anti-Semitic attacks on the region’s Jewish population, highlighted by such events as the stabbing of the Deputy Commander of ZAKA Kiev and Hatzalah Kiev Chairman Rabbi Hillel Cohen.

Tzvi Magen, the former Israeli ambassador to Russia, told Arutz Sheva on Wednesday night that Russia is orchestrating the confrontations in an attempt to seize greater control over Ukraine.

Last Sunday, a 70 year old man while shouting “Heil Hitler”, shot and killed 3 Jewish people at the Overland Park Jewish Community Centre and Old Age Home in Kansas, USA. Similar incidents took place in France two years ago.

In Hungary, the ultranationalist party Jobbik won nearly 20% of the votes. The president of the European Jewish Congress, Dr Moshe Kantor said: “this is truly a dark day for Hungary” and added: “The gains made by Jobbik, an unashamedly neo-Nazi political party, should serve as a wake-up call for the whole of Europe.

Now is the time to keep our eyes and ears wide open. I believe we are witnessing prophetic events unfolding.
