The unique relationship between kings and priests has its origins early in the Bible, where Abraham meets Melchizedek, the priest of God Most High. In fact, the Scriptures are full of examples about the bond and connection between these two types of office bearers. But don’t be fooled into thinking that this type of interaction belongs to Biblical times. The relationship between a king and a priest continues to play an integral part in the Kingdom today.
A king in modern time can be described as a business person, a farmer or someone with a career, thus generating an income outside of ministry. A priest today would be a person in the ministry, thus working directly for the Father, often not generating an income in this way.
Both of these office bearers have been called to play a significant role in the Kingdom. Neither of these office bearers can fulfil this role without being in a mutually beneficial relationship with the other. As in Biblical times, the king and the priest operate together in a relationship of planning, prayer and blessing so that the harvest that the Father has in store for us can be released.
More information on this exciting relationship and how each of us can become involved will be added in the near future.
